About us

De L’Europe Amsterdam is one of the most iconic five-star hotels in the Netherlands, located in the heart of Amsterdam. Our culinary offering spans the All-Day Dinning, Events, In-Room Dining and Bars. Each with its own character, together forming a broad and varied operation. We are looking for a Head Chef who takes ownership of this operation, leads with confidence and knows how to get the best out of a team.

What you'll do

As Head Chef you are responsible for the culinary quality and day-to-day operations across the Lounge, Events, In-Room Dining and Bars, as well as the Stewarding team. You work closely with the Outlet Managers and the Food & Beverage Manager on menu development, pricing and the commercial positioning of the offering.

You lead, inspire and develop your kitchen team, and create an environment where people feel ownership and room to grow. You keep a close eye on quality, consistency and profitability, and you stay ahead of culinary trends to keep the offering relevant and sharp. You recruit and train staff, ensure smooth communication across departments and act as a true ambassador for the food and beverage operation, both inside and outside the hotel.

Who you are

•        At least 2 years of culinary management experience in a comparable environment

•        A natural leader who knows how to motivate, develop and get the best out of a team

•        Passionate about food and creativity, and always looking for ways to improve

•        Entrepreneurial mindset; you think commercially and take ownership of results

•        Calm and adaptable under pressure, with a solutions-focused attitude

•        Strong communicator who builds good working relationships across departments

•        Fluent in Dutch and English, with a good knowledge of French culinary terms

•        Detail-oriented and consistent in the way you work

Nice to have

•        At home you can turn any leftover into a proper meal and your friends know it

•        Demonstrable experience in running a financially and operationally successful kitchen
