Situated within the lively De L'Europe Amsterdam, our brasserie is a celebration of flavors, blending a warm ambiance with the essence of French classics. From delightful dishes to a welcoming atmosphere, Marie invites guests into a world of culinary delight. Currently, we are seeking an Assistant Sommelier to join both the team of Brasserie Marie led by restaurant manager Lucas Diepgrond, and the Wine team of De L’Europe, led by Wine Director Antonello Nicastri. We are looking for someone who excels in providing outstanding hospitality and thrives in an environment committed to excellence, collaboration, and exceptional service.
What you’ll do
Assist the sommelier with wine service and recommendations | Support guests in selecting wines and dishes that perfectly complement their meals | Share your wine knowledge with guests in an enthusiastic and approachable way | Regularly responsible your own section, particularly when the sommelier is on shift | Ensure the smooth and effective execution of service | Work closely with the kitchen and service teams to deliver a memorable guest experience | Maintain wine stock, update wine lists, and assist with inventory | Support the team by sharing your knowledge and training colleagues on wine pairings | Report to the sommelier and department manager.
Who are you
Passionate about wines and eager to grow your expertise | Experienced in hospitality with a background in fine dining or similar environments | Enthusiastic about creating memorable guest experiences and connecting with people | Quick to adapt and effective in a dynamic, high-paced setting | Positive, approachable team player with strong communication skills | Detail-oriented, proactive, and always ready to lend a hand | Eager to share your knowledge and help the team grow
Nice to have
WSET Level 2 or 3 certification or a similar qualification | Previous experience supporting a sommelier or working with wine selections | Previous experience in a French Brasserie or a 5 star hotel | Knowledge in Forbes and LQA standards | Experience in training and mentoring junior staff
